Built on the trusted foundation of Niko Home Control, MOTIV solutions are designed to make buildings work more naturally for the people inside them. MOTIV helps professionals create smarter, more comfortable buildings. With technology that works quietly in the background. All existing Niko Home Control solutions remain fully compatible with MOTIV. Over time, the full portfolio will move to the MOTIV brand. Installation preparations for traditional wiring

You need no special preparations in existing homes with traditional wiring when installing Niko Home Control with a wireless smart hub:

  • You can reuse the electrical wiring and fuse boxes.

    • The same current ratings apply for the fuses in the cabinet.

    • The same wiring section applies as for classic sockets and switches.

  • You do not need to provide extra space in the electrical cabinet.

  • You can easily replace the original switches and socket outlets by connected switches and connected socket outlets.

  • You can use the original flush-mounting boxes (also multiple flush-mounting boxes + horizontal and vertical).

Always obey local installation rules and regulations (e.g. Belgium AREI).

General preparations

  • You need a Wi-Fi network with internet connection.

  • To program your Niko Home Control installation you need the Niko Home app or the Niko Home Control programming software.

  • To control your Niko Home Control installation you need the Niko Home app (available for iOS and Android).

Specific preparations for the connected socket outlet

  • You install the connected socket outlet in a standard wall-mounting box with a min. depth of 50 mm.

  • You can install the connected socket outlet in multifold wall-mounting boxes.

    • You cannot install the connected socket outlet in a Niko splashproof (Hydro range) box.

    • You can install the connected socket outlet into a Niko surface mounting box, but doing so leaves very limited space for wiring.
