Modes

A Niko Home Control installation with a wireless smart hub can operate in 3 modes. These modes are determined by the availability of the wireless smart hub and the programming of the connected devices.

Mode

Stand-alone mode

Connected mode

Fallback mode

Conditions

There is no wireless smart hub configured.

  • There is a wireless smart hub configured.

  • The wireless smart hub is reachable by the connected controls and devices.

  • The connected controls and devices are programmed.

  • There is a wireless smart hub configured.

  • The wireless smart hub is not reachable by the connected controls and devices (out of range, unpowered).

  • The connected controls and devices are programmed.

Behaviour

The devices will work according to traditional behaviour.

The connected controls and devices will work according to their programmed behaviour.

The connected controls and devices will fall back to their traditional behaviour.

E.g.

The connected single switch switches a lamp on or off.

The connected single switch is programmed as a Standard 'all-off' button.
All controls and devices within this Standard 'all-off' routine will be switched off when the button is pressed.

This connected single switch may well be programmed as a Standard 'all-off' button, but will only switch off a lamp.
