The BMS software communicates with the BMS application controller over Ethernet / BACnet IP. The controller then communicates with the DALI bridge over Ethernet/Modbus IP.
How this works
The process is as follows:
-
The BMS software acts as the supervisory platform, allowing operators to monitor and control the lighting system from a central interface.
-
The BMS Application Controller functions as the primary controller, providing the connection between the supervisory platform and the lighting gateways.
-
DALI bridge-1 and DALI bridge-2 are connected in a daisy-chain configuration, with each bridge linked to the next.
Each bridge manages one or two DALI buses, which connect to the luminaires.
Because the lighting management intelligence is built into the DALI master detector, there is no need for a separate, complex application controller or extensive commissioning. This architecture is modular and scalable, making it easy to expand the installation while maintaining centralised monitoring and control.
